Grief retreats give our broken hearts a chance to rest, reflect, and heal.

Even while we are actively grieving and giving ourselves time to mourn, it can be difficult to understand what all the pain, emptiness, and change actually means, or figure out what to do with it.

Grief retreats give you a chance to take time for such reflection; to drop the day-to-day concerns, back away from the regular stressors and routines, and find a place to slow down and tune into our lives. The retreat also allows for downtime, play, and unscheduled free time for rest, sleep, walking, talking, and reflection.

Although our response to death is deeply personal, it can also be a collective experience. Grief retreats allow you to share your experience with others in a way that provides opportunities for commiseration, comfort, and the development of community. Retreats provide a nurturing environment that respects the comfort zone of each individual.

Grief retreats are for adult persons (19+) mourning the death of a loved-one(s) and who are journeying toward healing and personal growth. Retreats are held twice per year in the Spring and Fall. These are residential retreats and typically begin late Friday afternoon and end Sunday afternoon.

*Retreats are alcohol and (non-prescription) drug free .

WHAT WE OFFER AT GRIEF RETREATS

Yoga and Meditation:

Offered each morning for those who wish to start their days with some light stretching and mindfulness.

Gathering Circle:

We come together as a group to share, connect, listen, and learn. The circle is facilitated as a sacred ritual space where confidence, respect, dignity, and difference are protected and assured.

Break-Out Groups:

We divide the larger group into smaller groups, allowing for more intimate interaction. Break-out groups tend to be focused on themes that are identified as challenging.

Grief 101:

Although we learn best experientially, there are a few basic grief theories and ideas that can be immensely helpful to people in pain. This section is didactic and educational in nature with room for lots of questions.

Soul-o Time:

Reflective solitary time is an important aspect of the retreat. We will give participants a few simple suggestions for making this time rewarding and powerful.

Locations:

Check the Retreats Event page to find out where our next retreat is happening.

Lodging:

A variety of accommodation options are usually possible with registration. Private room options fill more quickly than shared rooms, so it is advisable to sign up as early as possible.

Food:

Our retreat chefs strive to meet the dietary needs of guests including: vegetarian, vegan, no pork, celiac (gluten free), lactose intolerance, peanut, and shellfish allergies.
